20 mph Limit |

The Parish Council requested that Essex CC Highways initiate the necessary consultation process that would allow a 20 mph speed limit to be imposed in Littlebury. On the 23rd October 2008 Essex wrote rejecting that request on the grounds that the B1383 was a primary route and contrary to the then current speed management policy.
In early January 2009 a new draft Speed Management Policy was promulgated by Essex CC Highways. This draft states that 20 mph speed limits are not permitted on County Routes – priority 1 & 2. The B1383 is such a route. The Parish council intends to request that Walden Road and Mill Lane be subjected to a 20 mph limit. If this request is successful, then requests will be made in relation to all other roads in the village other than the B1383. The Parish Council intends to contact other Parish Councils with a view to trying to campaign for a default 20 mph speed limit in villages.
