Fundraising Race for Life
near the finishing line

Littlebury heroines Janet and Marta ran the Race for Life  in just over 37 minutes, which Janet says "We were very pleased with in the blazing heat. Our combined fundraising amount raised over £2500 for Cancer Research"

Well done Marta and Janet!

Admission of Littlebury Children to Great Chesterford School

Recently the Parish Council met with the Head of Great Chesterford School and the Chair of the Board of Governors, together with County Councillor Robert Chambers, District Councillors Jan Menell and  Julie Redfern, members of the Parish Council and parents.  Cllr Chambers volunteered to look further into the matter and subsequently attended this month's Parish Council meeting. Parents will be appealing against the decision. History

The Parish of Littlebury encompasses not only the villages of Littlebury, Littlebury Green, Catmere End, but also those parts of the grounds of Audley End House which fall to the west of the River Cam, and much of the Audley End Estate.

A mainly rural parish, it is about two miles from the market town of Saffron Walden in Essex, twelve miles from the City of Cambridge and fifty five miles from London. It has traditionally been served by Great Chesterford CoE (Voluntary Aided) Primary School with a bus service for all children and at secondary level by Saffron Walden County High School. There are doctor’s surgeries in Newport, Great Chesterford and Saffron Walden. The nearest General Hospital is Addenbrooke’s at Cambridge.

Services are held at Holy Trinity Church every Sunday. Livestock and gardening needs can be met at Stalley’s Barn at the north of the village of Littlebury. The Queen’s Head Pub is open every day and offers meals and Bed & Breakfast.

The Parish Council meets monthly (and only exceptionally in August) in the Village Hall in Littlebury village at 7.30pm and the general public are welcome to attend. In March and October meetings are held at St. Peter's Community Centre in Littlebury Green. Agendas are posted on the noticeboards at Littlebury, Littlebury Green and Catmere End three days in advance. A brief report of the meeting is given in the parish magazine which is distributed to every household monthly and full minutes can be found on this site.
